Our Mission

Ponies Unlimited was founded and established to bring glory to God by bringing the world of horses and ponies to people in the greater Washington, D.C. area. The founder and sole proprietor was the late Maurice J. Queen, affectionately known as The Pony Man. In November 2021, he went on to be with the Lord, but his legacy still carries on. The family business that he established, continues to operate to continue his legacy. This is done through the services of birthday parties, block parties, church events, family reunions, fall festivals, community events, and more. We believe in offering quality service in the spirit of excellence from the smallest to the largest job.

About The Pony Man

  • Maurice J. Queen was a real live black cowboy from Washington, D.C. He was a true cowboy who loved the Lord and a man of faith. He was a man that had a passion for horses and enjoyed teaching children and adults the fundamentals of horsemanship. He raised horses, taught horsemanship, and gave horse-riding lessons for over 50 years.

  • His vision was to teach young men how to become grown men using the horsemanship program. Today we have extended that vision to teaching and training young ladies as well.

  • He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association, a deacon at the Southern Baptist Praise & Worship Center, and a member of the Fellowship of Christian Cowboys.

  • Mr. Queen had the pleasure of talking with Pat Parelli, one of the well-renowned horsemen in the United States. Mr. Parelli has taught Parelli Horsemanship to thousands across the nation.

Mr. Queen had spoken in numerous school presentations on the Black Cowboy for black history programs in the Washington metropolitan area.

Mr. Queen taught and mentored over 60 young boys into respectable grown men, by tipping their hats and opening doors for young ladies.

Mr. Queen was featured in the Washington Post, Washingtonian Magazine, and on Fox 5 News.
